Came across these today in the newspapers while on a bus home:

A woman noticed 2 baby mice trying to get out of a deep sink in her garage one morning. Seeing their growing exhaustion, she placed some water in a lid in the sink. The livelier mouse went for a drink and found a piece of food on its way which he picked up and took back to the weaker mouse. Every time the weaker mouse tried to take a bite, the livelier mouse moved the piece nearer and nearer to the water until finally the exhausted mouse reached the water. After regaining their strenth, they both managed to climb out of the sink using a board the woman had placed in the sink.

Gorillas have been known to hold wakes for their dead friends. A woman once saw a male gorilla picking up a piece of celery and placing it in the hand of his long-time mate who had passed away from cancer. He was trying to get her to wake up. Celery was her favourite food.

2 dogs were long time mates and had raised 8 litters of pups. The male used to push the female around. But when the female's leg was amputated due to a malignant tumour, he stopped shoving her around and became more caring to her.

Elephants in a national reserver were spotted walking a while but keep stopping to see and wait for a crippled baby elephant to catch up.
