Drive of Life

Also, managed to get past the stumbling block and finally finished the Drive of Life. And I must say, it's well worth the wait.

For 60 episodes, it didn't seem that long. I expected some draggy bits and the later parts to focus more on the second generation, but I was proved wrong. The storyline was well-written and even the lighting was almost movie-like *maybe due to filming in China and Canada*. But the directing and editing was just superb, and there were many well-executed scenes which were emotionally moving and not inaptly dragged out *when they took the steel factory sign down, when Wah Chun Pong cleared his wedding car, the contrasting scenes building up the emotions when Wah Man Hung was preparing to see Cheung Ping, ...*.

One thing I like is that they don't attempt to milk the plot for all it's worth. The main story arcs get resolved in 2 or 3 episodes, and it was sort of easy to stop at whatever episode whenever I want *and still not lose track*. That's not to say the plot wasn't good :)

The casting was quite appropriate: Damian Lau and Myolie Wu for their well-written characters *Damian's portrayal in particular deserves much praise, giving much life to his already well-written character*, Michael Miu and Sheren Tang for their suitably casted roles, and Jessica Hsuen's role was a breakthrough from her usual acting. My only grievances was that Raymond Lam's character didn't give him much room to excel *notice how his pic is much smaller than Charmaine Sheh's on the poster, although they're supposed to be the leading couple?*, and the character of Wah Ching Lam was pretty much irrelevant *makes me think the actress must have some serious backing to get so much tv time*. Even the mandatory bits promoting the horse-racing association here and there were not that irritating.

Overall, the series was exceedingly good and satisfying. All that focus on the older generation provided a great chance for the veteran actors to shine, and shine they did ;)
*Damian Lau pratically stole all the limelight*

But what I loved most is the music - especially that Russian song which they so deftly incorporated into the storyline, giving it such meaning and presence. Makes me want to play the piano version and think of band days. And Raymond's song is another heartbreaker! *Finding You In Loving Memory or something like that* The song is extremely nice in itself *one of my favourites :p*, forget its association with the show. The opening song is rather good, but I just feel the cantonese and mandarin combination just don't flow *Hacken Lee's voice and the Mandarin singer's are just too different to balance*.

Oh, and the opening mtv is really nice.

Well worth watching just for the veterans' performance...

p/s: you know what, Raymond's song was playing when I first posted this! Lol... coincidence? *delusional*

Angels & Demons

by Dan Brown

Never thought my first book review here would be something in this genre. There was a sale at the library and I got 3 books at only 30p each! Never mind that they were all library-wrapped with security code still attached and well-thumbed-through yellow/brown pages... I didn't care.
*the titles weren't part of my ultimate collectible books anyway :p*

Finished Angels & Demons a while back and just re-read The Da Vinci Code. Although the second one was definitely more famous, I can't help but feel its predecessor (Angels & Demons) was a better and more well-written effort by Dan Brown. In fact, it was pretty good material for a standard Hollywood blockbuster *quite a few drama-worthy scenes in Angels & Demons*, unless they get the same people who produced The Da Vinci Code movie *truly a waste of budget*.

Thriller fare was never my cup of tea when it comes to reading, though I really liked the Da Vinci Code for its stimulating ideas *but not the author's writing :p*. The 2 books have a lot in common aside from having the same hero - progression of the plot, the characteristics of the heroine and villains, the main theme... but there is a difference, though funny how the second one seems worse than the first to me :p
Hm, perhaps the editing for Angels & Demons was much stricter than for The Da Vinci Code?
Good editing can make a world of difference...

Well, hopefully can read more after exams. But then, it'll be back to work again...

... dress ...

Speaking of retail therapy...

DX kindly accompanied me shopping for the second day in a row *thanks, DX! ;) great teman for shopping and makan*, and this time we spent the whole day in Topshop, Oxford Circus alone *it's not known for being the world's largest fashion house for nothing :p*. I found a few dresses which are 'options' *thank god* and finally managed to buy one!

*whew*

I always thought that my first dress *last time I bought one was at age 12, which doesn't count* would be a black one *you know, the little black dress*. Funnily enough, not only was it green *a hard colour to match*, the only other garment I bought was a green sweater.

Well, desperate times call for desperate measures.
Or maybe it's just a green day o.O

*$£$*

Overall, it was rather productive as I not only found 'plan Bs', but also managed to get an accessory too. Now I just need to find a pair of shoes, possibly a bag, a fancy shawl/wrap/cardigan thingy, and the whole ordeal could be over...

*$£$£$*

And I also decided to buy a Jane Norman dress when it's on sale *someone tell me when's the next one! :(*, plus a Topshop black dress suitable for work if I could find one in my size *fat chance*. Better to get a backup ready for emergencies, right?

*$£$£$£$*

Which reminds me - I've gone up a full size in the last 3 months :(

... all this is so not me.

p/s: Started sniffing here and there as the day wore on, culminating in consecutive sneezes towards the checkout. At first, thought it was because of staying in the department store for so long and all that dust - it stopped after I got out of the building - but have been sniffing still since getting back :'(
can just feel a headache and sore throat coming...
*just like me to be perfectly healthy all this time in a heater-less room, and get a cold from a day in a department store instead -_- the trauma of shopping!*

... truly radley deeply ...

While waiting for depression to swing in, more and more things seemed to be added to the equation...

Should I go back to KL for a little over 3 weeks in June *earliest option* or spend at least a month in September *mid-autumn festival*?

:s

Should I listen to my landlady and shift from my current small room to an even smaller room within the flat?
*long story... smaller one has slightly better view and working heater, but less storage space and no table... worth trading in the double into a single bed, so I can fit a small desk in?*

:s

Should I get that lovely not-too-expensive chiffon dress that doesn't suit me and which I know I won't wear for the coming Christmas thingy *in the first place, the only reason I need a dress fast*?

:s

So many questions *help!* though stranger still, no panic or worry yet. This, is what worries me :(

Other than that, still haven't cleaned out my room or started studying >.< And, perhaps in denial, am subconsciously turning towards retail therapy...

Since I first saw a cute scottie tag on an all black leather handbag, I was intrigued. Became more interested everytime someone carried one of those *quite common over here*, and soon after upon learning the name of the brand, secretly resolved to get one of my own before I left UK for good.

That was before I found out how much they actually cost... *sigh*

But it didn't stop me surfing / laptop-screen-shopping online for the coveted Radley bags late into the night *slept after 1am these 2 nights*. I was already obsessed. Oddly, online searches turn up nothing about the brand, except links to where one can buy them online. And despite the price, the bags sold out fast, with new designs always around the corner.

Some of their more colourful designs:
*though their range is mostly one-colour with slight splashes for contrast*

...radley joyride...

...radley retail therapy...

...radley seaside...

and my favourite :p

...radley kiku medium grab bag...

Looks like a long, long way to go before I can own a Radley.

... truly, radley, deeply.

Hand in Hand

Here I was, thinking selfish thoughts, and a good friend had forwarded this...

Performed by Ma Li and Zhai Xiaowei.

... just beautiful :'(
*never imagined a more graceful crutch*

... vending machine vegetable soup ...

The one in my office.

A colleague said it's amazing. Tried some today.

Tastes very similar to Maggi's chicken flavour instant bihun o.O

Which is nice. *hm, perhaps can add meehoon to it if I'm desperate enough?*

... depression anticipation ...

Lately, been too addicted to a manga.
*it's not even going to be one of my favourites*

So much so that I've been neglecting loads of things - some forgotten, others abandoned, while most are already permanent residents on my procrastination list. Didn't go out at all last weekend (not even for grocery shopping) and meals were at least an hour behind usual (yes, it's that bad -_-).

Even forgot about all those entries I wanted to blog.
*it's only been 3 days, but for someone obstinately long-winded like me, it's ages*

Decided to stop today, and see how long I can last. *not hopeful, especially it's pre-exam syndrome season again*

So... now, I'm in a kind of twillight zone. Just floating along.

Waiting for depression to set in.

For I know:
- written exams in 3 weeks time, both papers in one day, and haven't made any notes (much less read them -_-;)
- winter's coming, the heater in my room isn't working, and never has been *haven't tried turning it on since moving in, until now*
- next year's schedule is out, and I can't go back for Amy's wedding :'(((
- broke a hanger *again*
- a sudden urge to listen to the opening tunes of Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven
*can't find the instrumental version, can anyone help? :(*

There's more, but it's slipped my mind for now.

And strangely, I'm still not depressed.

Yet.

... in anticipation.

... girlie shirts ...

Incidentally, guys...

lilac or light purple shirts make one look 'girlier' than light pink shirts ;)

... knitted ...

Item #1:
The teach-yourself-how-to-knit book from the library.

Item #2:
Average size knitting needles.

Item #3:
Yarn. *cheap acrylic ones :p*

After some experimenting...

.
.
.

... knitted my very first swatch, in stockinette stitch too! *too lazy and skipped a few other beginner swatches ;)*

Next...

.
.
.

... my first knitted project: a red 2X2 ribbed scarf!
*at least 2 obvious mistakes >.<*

A few tries, no sweat, and a bit of tears along the way.
*only had time to knit while watching Drive of Life, hence the occasional tears*

Hm, maybe a hat next? That is, if I've time and get the right needles before losing interest... :p

Phantom of the Opera

The musical, encore production...

My friend had a ticket but couldn't make it, so I went instead after work and getting KFC for a quick dinner *had a craving for it (though like they say, not as nice as in KL)*.

It was great and all, as expected. It is one of the classics, after all. The set and props were beautiful, the effects and timing excellent, the singing good, the acting and orchestra not bad *but could be improved :p*. Don't know if it's just my imagination, but think Christine didn't aim for the highest note at the end of the well-known piece "The Phantom of the Opera" *thought the last note was supposed to be much higher... hm...*, though her singing was still very good. The phantom's singing was better, more varied and with more emotion. But the pairing of the hero and heroine was a bit off, mainly because Christine was slightly smaller than average and the phantom was taller than most.

The best performer was definitely Raoul overall, who could act his part really well and sing, not to mention superbly good looking ;) *think Christian Bale*

...ticket 'n' souvenir...

Got myself a small souvenir in the form of a mask lapel pin, which was more value for money than the programmes anyway. Having heard the music often before, I supposed it's entirely different to hear it live, though the parts with more than 2 cast members singing at once became jumbled up and one can't decipher what it is they're actually singing then. It did remind me of percussion for some reason *the snare in particular wasn't good :p*, though my favourite songs were the sad beginning parts of "Wishing You Were Here With Me" and the chorus for "Point of No Return" *I have wierd tastes :p*. I do like Andrew Lloyd Webber's compositions a lot and I think Phantom of the Opera is the best of them, though the lyrics were definitely not as appealing...

... now, maybe I shall set my sights on Les Miserables *and save up -_-*.

... doggy tales ...

The day I left home, a new family member arrived...

We've been wanting to get another dog since Tiny left. But for more than a year, we didn't.
*can't be too soon after Tiny, and must be able to fit through our grill (otherwise, he/she would be bored to death)*

Then the same day I arrived in London, I got a text saying they got a DOG.

...Yoyo...

*a JR terrier too! argh-sigh... didn't even get to meet it -_-;*

Technically, Yoyo wasn't ours. The neighbour had her first, but because their cat couldn't stand it, Yoyo had to go. And since they knew we were looking for one, they let us have it on the condition that their youngest son can still come over and play with Yoyo.

So, there came a dog.

...at the dining table...

It's barely bearable that they got a dog immediately after I left.
It's not even enough that it's one of the smartest kind of dogs around.
And now I'm getting long distance pictures and stories of our cutest family member.

Ok, she does fit through the grill *my requirement :p*... But no matter how much I think I know her, she's still gonna bite me like a stranger once I go back :'(

.
.
.

Been wanting to blog something about dogs here *I mean, what's my blog if there's no dogs? :p*. But somehow, it just doesn't feel right to talk about the new one, not without first mentioning those before (hence the series of long entries). I don't know. Maybe I just can't let go, haven't got over it, paying my respects...

But I do know, I do not want to forget.

*I now tag those reading this (if anyone still does ^_^) to blog about their pets - be it love or hate :p*

Oh well, at least I'll remember when Yoyo came.

...from afar...

... the dog I never had.

Remembrance Day

Eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month.

*been wondering what all those red poppies were about throughout the week :p*

A day which marks the end of WWI, and to commemorate those who had fallen.

... sunshine lost ...

Funny how one can move easily from one extreme to the other.

Here I was, enjoying the brief respite at the end of a gloomy day, about to go to sleep feeling a tad contented...

... and next, filled with anger, too frustrated to sleep.

*distance helps - but not enough*

... the swinging pendulum.

My Girl

The Temptations

Liked this song ever since hearing the first 2 opening lines in a commercial... And now after watching My Sassy Girl, what do you expect? :p *can't help it*

I've got sunshine
on a cloudy day
when it's cold outside
I've got the month of May

I guess you'll say
what can make me feel this way?
my girl...
talkin' bout my girl

I've got so much honey
the bees envy me
I've got a sweeter song
than the birds in the trees

well,
I guess you'll say
what can make me feel this way?
my girl...
talkin' bout my girl

I don't need no money
fortune or fame
I've got all the riches, baby
one man can claim

well,
I guess you'll say
what can make me feel this way?
my girl...
talkin' bout my girl

talkin' bout my girl
I've got sunshine on a cloudy day
with my girl
I've even got the month of May
with my girl

talkin' bout, talkin' bout, talkin' bout my girl...

my girl...

*really brightened up an otherwise cloudy day*

... my sunshine on a cloudy day.

My Sassy Girl

Yup, finally watched it.

And it's WONDERFUL!
*didn't even notice the heroine's name was never revealed throughout the movie*

... now that's what I call a romantic comedy ;)

... London living 1.0 ...

Pros...

  • where chocolate doesn't melt at room temperature
  • where biscuits don't go soft when left out for a week
  • where Pringles still come in the original, lighter, thinner, crispier, and much tastier version

;)

... schooling 'n' education ...

A quote I always liked...

I have never let my schooling interfere with my education.

... Mark Twain.

... pineapple hill ...

Was tagged *first time!* by CY to blog about school days...
*that was a month ago but not in the mood for the topic - still no mood :p*

Well, I've been to CBN from primary to secondary. Technically, it was SRK C(1)BN and SMK CBN. Even half the time I spent at tadika was on that pineapple hill.
*my entire school life spent there, minus 1 year*

Aside from spending 12 years of education *hah* in the same vicinity, those days will always be the best of my life, especially the last few years in secondary. A time when I was tall *yes, I was once -_-*, had all sorts of friends, do all variety of things *seriously* and refuse to do all kinds of things. That was also the most active and productive period of my life.

Primary passed by in more or less a blur: performances, gym, competitions, gym, Merdeka performances, gym, mental arithmetic *never quite got the grasp of it*, gym, choir *though I can't sing*, gym, band, gym, choral speaking, gym, science contests, gym, mathmagic competitions, gym, school athletics meets, gym, badminton matches, gym, prefects, gym...
School was small with only 2 classes for each standard, changing halls with C(2)BN halfway through each year. Don't remember how I got through the exams without studying, except reading a bit for the new subject in UPSR. I even got through a whole school year without my teacher noticing that I didn't even have the required exercise book, much less did any homework for her subject...

Secondary was more slow-going *mainly more in-school activities like class competitions*: gym, dance performances, sports day parade, poetry recitation *forced to*, boria, drama *ah, those days...*, debate, duet-acting *suck at it :p*, pantun *reserve only*, junior prefects *fun :)*, senior prefects *we really run everything -_-*, school band *ah, those days... blogged before*, mathmagic, choral speaking, SUKOM pre-opening, BN anniversary, SEA Games opening *more politics :(*, design competition, moral studies contest, kerja khusus-es *still don't see the point of them -_-*...
Of course, not to forget the compulsory ordeals of PMR and SPM. The secondary building was smaller, but there were 8 classes for each form. Definitely more politics and drama (teachers and inter-classes). But also many, many memorable times. Those really were the days...

Sadly, do not have pics of those days *major regret :'(*, so can't post any.
If you happen to have any with ugly me, please pass me a copy? *begs*

So instead, been surfing around for pics of dear old CBN...

...cbn...

...primary...
*my favourite - a beautiful building which the powers-that-be insist on re-painting in bright colours -_-*

...corridors at sunset...
*many commercials were acted in them*

...secondary...
*much newer, less historical*

...college block and field...
*as much of a field we can get on a hill anyway*

...form 5 corridor...

...the frangipani tree...

...school badge...

And I just discovered we had an official website! Pretty good site with loads of info - even 5-year graph comparisons of PMR and SPM results, if one's interested -_-; Pity they don't have an archive section, or I would have read more...

If I were to really blog about my school days, the entry would trail gigabytes of cyberspace. So shall stop here. *though I can't help the occasional entries of my recollections :p*

'Tis said, one fails to appreciate things until one has lost them. Often miss those days, especially when going to school is no longer an option.

*will not continue the tag, since people reading this would have been tagged already*

... a true-blood CBN-er.

... a dog's tale ...

And finally...
*expect long, long boring entry >.<*

We first got Tiny about 12 years ago. My uncle felt a bit sorry for Doggy's death at his place and since we bought Doggy through him, he called us over when his next 'home-made' lot of puppies arrived by chance. They were 3 brothers - the best looking was one with Peke-ish long hair, the second was long-legged with a mixture of long and short fur, and the last was the smallest with short but soft fur. We chose the smallest as he was the only one sitting quietly *and rather distinguishedly, I must say :p*, looking on at all the 'excitement' of us visitors...

Named Tiny *by my mum - she couldn't call it Doggy since we were old enough to remember the other one -_-* but spelt Tyny *according to my sis -_-;*, he looks like a smaller version of a mousedeer with his light brown short fur. His unique appearance has earned him many names - 'little deer' in chinese (by my uncle's family), 'kancil' (by the neighbourhood kids), and even 'Lion King' (by this kid who pointed to Tiny excitedly when we were walking him). My uncle had Tiny's tail cut short when he was still a week old :( apparently, Tiny's type look nicer without one... And in his early years, Tiny still wags his cute tuft *aw* whenever he's happy or excited :)

...tiny...

He chewed off the first collar we got him and he never wore one after that. He chewed many slippers during his teething phase and had an apparent liking to my dad's brown leather-like type. There was once where my dad just bought a new pair from the market and it was found in pieces an hour later in the garden - my dad didn't even get to wear them *aw*

He observed and chased the 'wildlife' in our garden when he was very young - birds, butterflies, moths, tiny frogs that sometimes got lost in our house - and once brought indoors to show us a cockcroach he caught in the garden using his mouth (it didn't happened again, perhaps due to our surprised and unexpected reaction then :p). One thing though, he doesn't really chase cats *my theory is that he's too lazy or afraid since cats were bigger than him anyway*... when he got older and smarter ;) he would pretend to chase the cats off the garden if we happen to be looking, sometimes only barking and running a bit after we first shout at a cat.

Bath times were rather fun to watch. In his early years, Tiny would make a run for it whenever he had a chance and it was the highlight of the day to see my dad trying to catch a tiny and soapy dog *aw* around the garden. Encores include a second wet-dog-run around the garden, this time with a towel on him. As he got older, he would submit resignedly for this weekly ordeal when the time comes... though he never fails to hide quietly in his corner without a peep *hoping my dad forgets him* and wearing that puppy-dog-eyes look of his throughout the entire thing *as though saying 'spare me!' silently to my dad and any passer-bys*.

He was rather choosy when it comes to food, ignoring dog biscuits *the healthier option* as soon as he tasted meat mixed with rice. We had to ensure the meat was mixed in really thoroughly so that he doesn't leave all the rice in the bowl, whereupon the cats would start eyeing his bowl. If we offer him treats, he would take a sniff and refuse to eat if he's tasted it before and found it not to his liking. But if he knew something is nice on the table, he wouldn't hesitate to tap us with his 2 front paws even though he knew he wasn't supposed to do that... Oh, and he doesn't really bury food or anything either.

He was 3 years old when Jimmy and Lucky came. That was the only time he looked like a sometimes-aloof giant when his 2 younger half-brothers were playing around him. A random rabbit even dropped by for a very short stay *the only time our garden was so popular for cute animals*, which made Tiny even more protective of his basket. Can't blame him though... Lucky grew up with him, and it was perhaps lucky that he didn't learn many of Tiny's 'tricks' :p
We did however catch them sharing with a cat a piece of raw cod fish which was left to defrost in the kitchen, but that was indeed a rare occasion *not only my dogs eating fish with my enemies, but also we rarely have cod since it's expensive*.

Sometimes when my dad feels like it, he'll bring Tiny upstairs to wake us up in the weekends. Rather than waking us, Tiny would excitedly choose a comfortable spot on our blankets *that smart dog :p* and snuggle in. The thought of all his fur falling on our beds and the fact that we wanted to see him were enough to make us get out of our beds quickly.

He ran out to explore outside our house gate whenever he could, and even learned how to escape through my neighbour's drain gutter after jumping across the fence. When our neighbour had other dogs visiting, he was sure to 'crash' the party at least once, forcing us to extend the netting from the gate to the side fences. When he couldn't get across, he would start whimpering *he rarely whimpers - a dog with dignity ;)* whenever he saw my sis and I over at the neighbour's.

He escaped and went missing for months once *my mum remembered it as a few weeks but it was about 3 months for me*. We suspect he was caught by someone since he had no collar, Tiny being a dog very unique and 'marketable' as a pet. We had given up hope on finding him until he showed up one day unexpectedly at our gate, dragging a long stainless steel leash behind him... he didn't ran out as energetically after that, but still wanders outside when possible.

He had many favourite spots indoors where he likes to spend his time relaxing *pondering the meaning of life, I imagine*, but none more punctual than when it was time to feed his dinner around 6pm each day. At 4pm, he would lie quietly in the sitting room, taking a position with a good view of the kitchen door. Sometimes around 4.30pm, he would lie quietly at a point exactly mid-way from the sitting room to the kitchen *yes, in the middle of the road - quietly*. At 5pm, he could be found lying quietly right next to the kitchen door, his eyes following the movements of his dinner-preparer and lifting his head at anyone else who enters or leaves the kitchen. At 6pm, he would sit up quietly and apply a stronger dose of his puppy-dogs-eyes at said person. If said person is not in the kitchen by this time, Tiny would find a strategic spot which would place him in that person's direct line of sight, no matter where *ensuring he is not forgotten*. Quietly. If by 7pm and still no sign of his food, that's when Tiny would start tailing said person closely and give an occasional whimper to remind you he's there... but he never bites or tries to rush you - his system is effective enough ;)

He knew when to obey orders and when to pretend to misunderstand. Seriously, he was the most clever dog we had. We had trained him to come indoors when we call and go out when we shout *outside!*, through our door grills. My dad had this tiring habit of calling him during advertisement breaks to sit by his side. After a while (and depending on Tiny's moods), Tiny would try to ignore half the time *especially when he has been nicely seated indoors quietly for the evening* or go in the opposite direction instead. In his later years, he would ignore the first few calls, giving us all pleading stares and pitiful looks throughout *we totally understand :( - we even scold my dad whenever he does it*, then finally getting up and going outdoors as though he mis-heard it as 'outside!'...

As he got older, we became more worried and concerned for him. He hurt his leg once when younger and walked very slightly differently since then. Perhaps because of that and the fact he was putting on weight, we started hearing the shake in the grills which anounced his entrance or exit in the later years. He also took to climbing upstairs when he couldn't bear to sit with us if the fireworks got too loud *dunno why those kids like to play those type which suddenly goes off with a loud bang and nothing after that - not even a bright display :((*, looking for a hiding place.

After more than 10 years, he was just qualifying as being called old for a small dog. He refused to go out and sleep when we close up at night, especially when there's fireworks during Hari Raya season. Usually he would dilly dally, wearing his puppy-dog-eyes look, taking at least 10 minutes of us urging him before he would go out. Often we had to see him to the door to ensure he didn't make any detours. When there's fireworks *how can these kids play past midnight on the roads? :((*, we literally had to drag him to the door in his position and close the door on him before he finally went out. It's not that we don't understand his fear of fireworks, it's just that we know he gets restless trying to escape them and was afraid that he could hurt himself trying to climb upstairs when we're not around *at that age, he could still climb the stairs (though taking longer) to escape the fireworks, but couldn't get down after that - he had to wait for us to carry him*.

That Hari Raya season seemed to last forever - the kids never let up with the fireworks. After we close up, Tiny tried to escape by somehow getting outside our gate and wandering the neighbourhood in search of a hiding place, before turning up at our front gate the morning after - barking shortly for us to let him in. It went on for a few days and we couldn't discover how he managed to get out. One night when I was closing up and having put him outside, I heard some noises from our back gate and guessed that must be how he was doing it. At that time, I remember thinking that I could tell my dad about it and we can finally stopped him from running out by sealing the holes the next day. I even thought I heard him barking his short barks to be let in at dawn the next morning... But it was already too late :'(

It was exactly 2 years ago.
*til this day, I still regret...
and a hatred burns forever in me
- towards kids that play dangerous fireworks unsupervised late at night and their parents who let them do it*

And I still miss him.

... most of all, he had character.

... random watch ...

Didn't feel like going through a new series while in the midst of watching another, so been watching movies that I always wanted to but never got the chance before and rewatching old ones instead.

Iron Ladies, Tokyo Raiders *smooth choreography 'n' Tony Leung Chiu Wai ;)*, Nana 2 *the first one definitely better*, The Mad Monk *one of Stephen Chow's lesser flicks, but ending-cum-credits-rolling part was hilarious*, Love Undercover...

Which brings me back to the time when MCW was telling us classmates about how hilarious Love Undercover was. Must admit she's a great storyteller and made all of us break down in laughter with her recollection of the show's funny antics, so much so that I'd already laughed my heart out before I finally got the CD to watch and didn't enjoy it as much :p Rewatching now 5 years later, the show was indeed very amusing :D *Daniel Wu looks really good in it*

Haven't seen MCW and the others for so long, hope they're all fine and well...

... moving walls ...

The randomness of my thoughts...

Today while I was retrieving a file, someone else started moving the aisles from another row. Almost panicked as the walls of files close in - but it stopped in time with just enough room for me to slipped out. That person didn't notice a thing.

It suddenly occurred to me if such a thing happens again *quite likely*, could I scramble JackieChan-style upwards quickly enough and avoid getting crushed? If it was the me 10 years ago, I might have been able to pull it off. Given my current level of *un*fitness and more than 10kg weight gain since, I should start learning to scream instead :(

... 2 bus stops ...

*sigh*

After more than a week leave, am now back to work.

*sigh*

After so many small jobs, am now on a long job for the next 6 months.

*sigh*

After work today, a one-bus trip back to my place turned into 2 buses + 1 walk. Both buses terminated their route a few stops before they were supposed to.

*sigh*
