Indiana Jones

I'm going back to KL on Sept 10!

Ok, that didn't sound as happy as it should :p

Watched Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull yesterday, the first movie at the cinema for me in a long time. Well, it is one of those famous ones after all.

Didn't wanted to watch it in the first place, just thought it was yet another cheesy rip-off follow-up on the original famous movies. But that was before I found out Harrison Ford is still acting in it! And probably his last Indie one too.

Anyway, after more than 15 minutes of advertisements *none making any sense about what they're supposed to be selling* and only 1 sorry trailer *Eddie Murphy's coming movie*, the place finally darkened and a notice came on screen.

And all it said was, that the trailers were about to start -_-

Seriously, the real show only began about half an hour from the showing time.

It was one of those ok movies that's good for entertainment and probably better suited to any Harrison Ford's die hard fans *he's still amazingly agile for his age o.O*. Quite liked the way everything was a bit fuzzy/hazy to fit in with the older movies, not to mention those signature one-liners and cliches. But Shia LaBeouf's *who seem to be everywhere these days* character was just too stereotypical and spouting slang much to modern for its supposedly 1930s setting.

For a 4th and much later instalment of the original 3, it was ok. But the first 3 are still better.

And who can forget that iconic theme song? :p

p/s: Just read that George Lucas is the creator behind the series, and boy is he good if he came up with 2 of the best movie trilogies in history - Star Wars and Indiana Jones :p the first 3 movies of each, of course. Though I've always been more of the Pirates of the Caribbean and LOTR sort...

... C&R, Mayflower, 'n' Carluccio's ...

2 weeks to exams...

And here I am, haven't studied a thing, let alone revise when there's nothing, finishing last week's work, out shopping the last 2 days, bothering DX when she's busy preparing to go home *I'm seriously so jealous!*, eating out *don't even feel like cooking any more*, re-watching House MD *really good, by the way - only because of Hugh Laurie ^_^*, missing mahjong - yup, I'm officially depressed.

Or is it denial?

Oh well, finally had lunch at C&R Cafe on Sat. Since there were 3 of us, we ordered dishes instead of the hawker fare and I had cold teh tarik *tasted like very ordinary teh ais, but a foamy one*. The food wasn't really that great - sambal sotong had tomatoes in it with some mildly reddish paste *sambal, apparently*, fried chicken wings pretty much tasteless, but the belacan kangkung was good *actually, it was more of a chilli oil kangkung really*.

Maybe I had too high expectations of it. Maybe I just didn't try the right items.
Or maybe I was already too put off by the menus with KLCC on their covers -_-

Then went for some shopping and finally got that Jane Norman handbag which I had been waiting to be on sale since last year *pathetic, I know - especially since it's small and handbags don't suit me one bit*, before having dinner at Mayflower *which I like more than Four Seasons, not to mention significantly better service*. Met some of DX's and HL's friends, and we ended up playing a bit of mahjong *^_^* and Texas hold-em poker *ok, I just watched this - didn't even know how to spell it*.

I miss mahjong!
*think I might have forgotten how to play chor dai di -_- or just wanna play something that badly?*

Originally wanted to try out Oriental City *only place with apparently good food-court-like hawker fare - just that it takes 2 people to tell me about it only in the week before it's closing down*, but plans changed. Now I'll never get to try it out.
*sigh*

Shopping on Sun again with DX *well, she's going back today for at least 3 months, might as well bother her as much as I can now :p*. Dinner at Carluccio's, where I had a little tortellini with braised venison *sounds bigger than it looks* and some lemon tart *which was quite good*.

Very unproductive weekend. Supposed to be spent studying.

Guess it didn't help when the mornings are oh-so-nicely rainy to sleep in until noon.

By the way, am so outdated that I only just found out Harrison Ford really is acting in the latest Indiana Jones movie. Man, I so want to watch it now!

Oh, and I've got a mock exam first thing tomorrow morning.

... wanna play =(

p/s: DX, hope you have a safe flight home! And don't forget to collect all those
juicy details on Amy's wedding to make me jealous when you get back ;)

... 8 random facts ...

Been tagged by CY some time back, without realising it...
*at least, I think I've been tagged -_-*

Rules

  • Link to your tagger and post these rules.
  • List eight random facts about yourself.
  • Tag eight people at the end of this post and list their names
Everyone else I know has been tagged already. Yeah, I know only so few people. So here are the few victims I can think of...
  1. MY
  2. PL
  3. HL
  • Let them know they've been tagged by leaving them a comment on their blogs

Er, what random facts? Weird things about myself? *plenty* Little known things? *don't I already talk too much about myself?* How random, when you have to think of them yourself? *first thing that comes to mind?* What's fact, anyway?

Oh, well.

1) I have a huge birthmark on my arm. To be precise, 3 birthmarks. Always forget about them, unless someone asks me directly or points it out to me. People tend to think I had some childhood accident involving fire or hot water. Or both. Sometimes *particularly when I'm bored*, I would answer that I purposely burnt these patterns on my hand to see what they would look like when I was very small. I like to think that they resemble a butterfly and a bee, with the blob
in the middle being some sort of flower *or some unknown-undiscovered country*...

2) My spine at my lower back curves sideways. This is apparently unique, because it doesn't curve outwards (like hunching) and there seems to be no reason for it. Only found out about this during the brief medical examination before starting work in KL. No idea how long it's been like this. Ah, but that explains why I seem to be shrinking since leaving secondary school...

3) I like onions raw. And avoid cooked ones.

4) When I was younger, I have this habit of eating bananas by chewing off the surfaces first and leaving the insides for last - which everyone else finds it extremely weird. Can't remember exactly when I started that, but I've stopped doing so out of sheer laziness...

5) Of my family, I am the most shopaholic one of all and also the most stingy-cheapskate-even-if-buying-for-myself one. Go figure...

6) I am the eldest. And it shows... -_-

7) I love soft toys. Used to have this enormous collection that took one third of my bed when I was eight. Then they got thrown out all at once, behind my back *the poor things :'(* - just because some doctor suggested that soft toys might be the reason for my frequent sneezes *as if! I've been having some mild allergy or other since I was a baby*...

*er, what else?*

8) Back in Standard 1, I was chosen to join the national day performance only because I looked ridiculous *but apparently cute :s* while trying to do the moves during the audition *yes, I clearly recall Ms Low laughing at me*. Not only did it introduced me to rhythmic gymnastics which CBN primary was famous for *spent more than half my childhood in gym or so it seems -_-*, the seniors in Standard 5 and 6 suddenly took a liking to me. I had up to 13 pet sisters at one point *though I can't remember each and every one of them now :p*. But we lost touch the next year when nearly all of them moved up to secondary school...

... ok, that's more than enough.

... listless ...

Sometimes...

to be spontaneous

to not have to worry

to actually get drunk

to not have to think

to let one's guard down

to have not a care at all

to be childish

... wouldn't it be nice?
