Phantom of the Opera
The musical, encore production...
My friend had a ticket but couldn't make it, so I went instead after work and getting KFC for a quick dinner *had a craving for it (though like they say, not as nice as in KL)*.
It was great and all, as expected. It is one of the classics, after all. The set and props were beautiful, the effects and timing excellent, the singing good, the acting and orchestra not bad *but could be improved :p*. Don't know if it's just my imagination, but think Christine didn't aim for the highest note at the end of the well-known piece "The Phantom of the Opera" *thought the last note was supposed to be much higher... hm...*, though her singing was still very good. The phantom's singing was better, more varied and with more emotion. But the pairing of the hero and heroine was a bit off, mainly because Christine was slightly smaller than average and the phantom was taller than most.
The best performer was definitely Raoul overall, who could act his part really well and sing, not to mention superbly good looking ;) *think Christian Bale*

...ticket 'n' souvenir...
Got myself a small souvenir in the form of a mask lapel pin, which was more value for money than the programmes anyway. Having heard the music often before, I supposed it's entirely different to hear it live, though the parts with more than 2 cast members singing at once became jumbled up and one can't decipher what it is they're actually singing then. It did remind me of percussion for some reason *the snare in particular wasn't good :p*, though my favourite songs were the sad beginning parts of "Wishing You Were Here With Me" and the chorus for "Point of No Return" *I have wierd tastes :p*. I do like Andrew Lloyd Webber's compositions a lot and I think Phantom of the Opera is the best of them, though the lyrics were definitely not as appealing...
... now, maybe I shall set my sights on Les Miserables *and save up -_-*.

oh i wanted to watch phantom the last time i was in london too. but it's damn expensive wei! :(
Yeah, it's super expensive and rarely on sale. Or can try those half-price tickets if you're willing to risk sitting anywhere...

Wouldn't mind watching again if can get cheap tickets, it's the type where can watch again and again...
